Smiley's Clinic

Serving Cedar Riverside, Seward, Phillips, and surrounding neighborhoods since 1971, we are located close to the University of Minnesota campus for easy access to the biomedical library, book stores, recreational center, and other University resources.

We serve an ethnically and socioeconomically diverse patient population with a blend of college students, immigrants, professors, underserved populations, and urbanites.

Hospital

University of Minnesota Medical Center, Fairview

The medical center has two campuses, one on Riverside Avenue and the other located across the Mississippi River on the University of Minnesota campus.

Riverside Campus

• The Riverside campus is a community hospital that has been home to Smiley's inpatient training services since 1971.
• Primary inpatient training site for Smiley's family medicine residents.
• Adult inpatient medicine rotations are staffed by both family medicine faculty and internal medicine hospitalists offering residents a unique, collaborative model of inpatient care and education.
• The majority of resident deliveries are done with the family medicine faculty who staff the Smiley's OB service.

University Campus

• The University campus is the location for specialty rotations such as ICU and cardiology.
• It is the primary training site for most of the University residency specialties.
• The hospital provides excellent learning experiences and an outstanding academic and research center that is easily accessible.
• University consultants are available for patient care and teaching.
• Residents develop great relationships with specialists.
