Curriculum and Rotations

Workshop Huddle Behnaz and Sue

Curriculum

The curriculum is designed to give residents a broad base of medical knowledge, broad procedural skills and an understanding of how to balance personal and professional responsibilities in a healthy way. We provide excellent preparation for careers in a variety of practice settings including rural, suburban, urban, emergency medicine, and academic settings.

Teaching Conferences

Core didactic lectures are scheduled from 11:30 am-2:00 pm every Tuesday at Smiley's Clinic and at noon on Thursdays in the Medical Center. Consultants and Smiley's faculty present a variety of ambulatory/outpatient primary care related topics on Tuesdays and inpatient topics on Thursdays.

Electives

Elective rotations are available in a variety of areas including sports medicine and the USA Soccer Cup, adolescent medicine, alternative medicine, anesthesiology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, hematology/oncology, infectious disease, pulmonary medicine, rheumatology, Camp Needlepoint (adolescent diabetes program), longitudinal teaching elective, and international rotations (residents have recently been on rotation in India, Costa Rica, Pakistan, Panama, Korea, and Thailand).
