Central Clinic

Central Clinic is a free clinic providing care to children and young people, birth to age 18, and has been located in St. Louis Park since 1996. It is operated as a partnership among the residency, the Park Nicollet Foundation, the St. Louis Park schools, and the local business and faith communities. Open two half-days per week during the school year, it is staffed by third-year residents. Central Clinic is located in Central Community Center, a school-district-owned building that also houses childcare programs, adult community education, and the Park Spanish Immersion K-6 grade school. The clinic, remodeled in 2005, is about two miles from Creekside Clinic and several blocks from the high school with easy access for students.

In a typical half-day, one doctor, one MA, and one receptionist working together see on average 6 patients (range 0 to 14). The clinic has about 600 visits per year.

Residents learn to see patients independently; telephone precepting is available and a small library is on-site, as well as internet access. Types of visits include well-child care, pre-participation sports exams, acute illness, immunizations, and adolescent health including contraceptive management and STD evaluation. The medical director of the clinic is Mary Wagner, MD. She and Jeremy Springer, MD, rotate seeing patients at Central Clinic; they both have CAQs in adolescent medicine from the American Board of Family Medicine.
