  • Well-rounded curriculum with a broad range of clinical experience
  • Strong first-year on-call experience providing house coverage and code responsibility with preceptor backup; second- and third-year residents on-call from home also with preceptor backup
  • Geriatric longitudinal curriculum includes providing nursing home care
  • Hospital has strong primary care emphasis that provides state-of-the-art tertiary care
  • Diverse faculty with extensive experiences in varied practices and CAQs in sports medicine, geriatrics, and adolescent medicine
  • Strong practice management curriculum
  • The opportunity to teach medical students is a part of our residency clinic experience; we welcome medical students from any LCME-accredited medical schools in the U.S. More information

Obstetrics

  • High volume of deliveries—there are approximately 3,000 births annually at Methodist Hospital and residents participate in some way with the majority of these; our residents deliver an average of 200 infants prior to graduation
  • Residents handle labor management and deliveries under supervision of obstetricians and family physicians

Sports Medicine

  • Sports medicine rotation includes sideline coverage and training room experience for high school and Division II college sports
  • Participating site for Hennepin County Medical Center/University of Minnesota sports medicine fellowship

Community Health

  • Clinic population is both socioeconomically and culturally diverse
  • Residency program is active in the community and provides care to underserved populations including a free pediatric/adolescent clinic
  • St. Mary’s free clinic participant site
