Sports Medicine

North Memorial has a strong sports medicine curriculum.

David Olson, MD, (shown right) directs the sports medicine education at North Memorial. Olson completed a primary care sports medicine fellowship at Notre Dame University and works with high school, college, and professional sports teams. His background and community connections have opened doors for residents to the world of primary care sports medicine.

Olson has fashioned North Memorial’s sports medicine curriculum like a mini fellowship:

  • First-years get a taste for sports medicine - casting and splinting, providing sideline coverage, and taking a general orthopedic rotation.
  • Second- and third-years take a primary care sports medicine rotation and a rotation at the USA Soccer Cup; provide independent coverage at Robbinsdale Cooper high school and help at University sporting events; and assist in writing a journal article.
  • Wednesday afternoons are blocked for sports medicine clinic.

Whatever your interest in sports medicine, you will find a way to meet your needs at North Memorial.
