Medical interests: Procedural skills, OB, and wilderness medicine
Background: Bixby spent 10 years in rural private practice in northwestern WI. During that time, he developed a wide range of procedural skills, including C-section, appendectomy, laparoscopy, and vasectomy, and was active in clinic management. He joined North Memorial faculty in 1991 and was named director in 1997.

 

Wootten Michael Wootten, MD, associate director

Residency: University of MN North Memorial Family Medicine
Medical interests: OB, including procedural skills; geriatrics; and chronic disease management
Background: Prior to joining North Memorial faculty, Wootten practiced for three years in the North Carolina Appalachian Mountains and four years in suburban Minneapolis. He routinely teaches procedural skills, such as sigmoidoscopy, OB ultrasound, and other OB procedures.

 

Abbott Geoffrey Abbott, MSW, behaviorist

Education: University of MN
Clinical interests: Pyschotherapy, hypnosis, family violence, and integrating mental health into primary care
Background: Abbott has been at North Memorial since 1977. Through precepting, video reviews, and team meeting and seminars, he helps residents understand patient-physician communication dynamics to increase their awareness of psychosocial factors. He also helps residents effectively utilize community resources.

 

Berge Jerica Berge, PhD, behaviorist

Education: University of MN in marriage and family therapy
Research interests: Reducing health disparities through community engagement and participatory action research, resiliency of children with chronic illnesses, and reducing biopsychosocial problems through couples/family therapy
Background: Berge is a licensed marriage and family therapist who specializes in collaborative care and family health issues. She has specialized clinical training in child play therapy, loss and grief issues, critical incident stress management, couples and sex therapy, parenting, depression, anxiety, group therapies, and working with families struggling with chronic illnesses.

Fellowship: University of CA in faculty development and research
Background: After residency, Crichlow was an attending physician, researcher, and instructor at University of CA, Davis, with a joint appointment in the Department of Family and Community Medicine and Breast Health Clinic. Prior to joining North Memorial, Crichlow had been on faculty at the MT Family Medicine Residency with her continuity clinic in the town of Joliet, MT (population 300).

Leone Barbara Leone, MD

Medical interests: Maternal and child health and health disparities
Background: For 13 years, Leone’s clinical practice was at the Model Cities Health Center, a non-profit community clinic in St. Paul, where she served as staff physician, preceptor, and medical director. She was also faculty at Regions Hospital Family Medicine Residency for five years before joining North Memorial.

Medical interests: Health care delivery systems and public health/primary care interfaces
Background: Prasad has practiced in rural MS and tribal areas in India.

 

Raff Kevin Raff, MD

Residency: St. Clare's Regional Medical Center Family Medicine, Schenectady, NY
Medical interests: Obstetrics, pediatrics and adolescent health, and procedural medicine
Background: Raff worked locum tenens in VA and HI before joining a rural Mayo Health System site in Springfield, MN, where he practiced full scope family medicine. In 2007, he joined North Memorial faculty.

 

Robinson Bean Robinson, PhD, behaviorist

Fellowship: University of MI, Ann Arbor, in Asian American mental health and research methods
Background: Robinson is associate director of the University of MN Program in Human Sexuality and has authored numerous scientific articles, reports, manuals, and monographs.
